The Icelandic Journal of Engineering publishes peer-reviewed research articles in the field of engineering. The journal is intended to be a forum for any type of Icelandic research in all fields of engineering and related disciplines. Special attention is paid to papers that deal with the utilization of engineering and actual examples thereof, as well as articles based on research work in doctoral and master's projects.

In addition, the journal publishes review articles, short comments, discussions, and book reviews in the field of engineering.

The primary language of the journal is Icelandic, and authors are encouraged to publish articles in that language. Articles in English are, however, accepted as well. The journal will provide guidance to the author if Icelandic is not their first language. All submitted papers must have a title, abstract, and keywords in Icelandic as well as English. See further guidelines for reviewers and authors.
